Taking out the crossbred distributor got rid of the flashing check engine light. Did the Voltage drop tests (Like an ass I'd done just a continuity test witha dvom on the grounds previously) across the grounds and found that 23 was kicking the fuel pumprelay on. It was supposed to be a ground. Checking further found another wiring diagram in the package of info a buddy had printed off for me and it had 23 as the fp relay circuit. further checking showed that on this different wiring diagram 26 was and ecm ground, it was a ign confirmation circuit on the diagram I had been using before. And 26 was open. By jumpering a ground to that pin we were back in business. I had a quick look at the terminal end at the back of the intake and could see no reason for it to be open so just ran another from the back of the motor. Turned out the First wiring diagram was for California/New york emissions. Thanks for all the advise guys. It helped to have someone else say go back to the ground circuits.
