Hi John, The 24x signal is a hall effect which outputs a digital signal, there is 24 square wave signals in 1 crankshaft revolution. This signal is used for RPM reference, timing control and idle stabilization below 2400 RPM. You should use a lab scope to check this signal. Trigger off of the Cam signal to stabilize your signal.
