It always amuses us that single guys cannot read and think that if they email us they will be the "one" that breaks down that rule and makes us just gotta get together with them.

Hi Mike, Sounds like all you have to do is throw in a carburetor and its ready to SHIP <LOL>. You stated that the check engine light is blinking while cranking, this reinforces my suspicions that the problem in the feeds or grounds to the ECM. Here is my thinking on it, feel free to comment, if any of it is flawed or incorrect (anybody). What could be happening is that, if you have excessive resistance in the power or ground circuits to the ECM, every time the ECM tries to activate the fuel injector or switch the coil, the load on the circuit causes the voltage to the computer to drop enough to reset the ECM. The f/p relay may cycle properly as it is not a susceptible to the voltage drop. As well as checking the grounds as stated in my earlier post, I would closely monitor the power feed that is supplied through the fuel injection relay. Burnt contact points may cause the voltage to drop and create the problems that you are describing. The voltage coming out of the FI relay should mirror the battery voltage (a slight bit less is OK), keep a close eye on voltage as you are turning the distributor by hand with KOEO. ----- Another suggestion I have, if the above proves fruitless, is to disconnect the fuel injector and just check for spark. This may be a bit of a stretch, but if you have a shorted injector, the extra load on the driver may be causing the ECM to do funny things. You never know with this stuff! ----- If you are unsure on how to perform voltage drop tests, let us know and I, or someone else, can post a better explanation on doing that test. Hope this gives you some more ideas to work with. Hang on to the fertilizer for a little bit yet :-) Harvey.
