Hi Mike, You didn’t state how you checked the pick-up coil (Cam Sensor) in the distributor. I would use a labscope or Vantage and have another look at that sensor. You should get a signal that has a peak to peak of at least 2 volts while cranking. Make sure that the ECM is connected so that you have proper circuit loading. ----- You stated that there is 12 volts to the ground side of the coil at the ECM, therefore, I wouldn’t bother looking for a problem with the noise suppressor in the positive side of the coil. However, there is a noise suppressor/tach filter in the coil negative line that I would have a look at. The simplest method to check this would be to unplug it. This will take the A/T control module and tach out of the circuit and if you have spark then connect those back one at a time to determine the fault. Off-hand I don’t know where the filter is located but MOD states that this may be taped to the wiring harness beneath the coil. ----- Another suggestion I have is that you may want to scope the ignition primary circuit and “current probe” the ignition circuit to see if the ECM is trying to control the coil or not. This may give you some direction as to where to look for the cause of your problem. If you see that there is switching in the coil negative then look at the coil or noise suppressor. If there isn’t any switching, then look for the proper inputs (pick-up coil signal) to the ECM and that the ECM is powering up (powers and grounds). ----- Hope this gives you some ideas to work with. Good Luck, Harvey Chan
