Hi Jamie, Thanks for your response about Tom Robert’s website. Over the years I had read most of Tom’s posts and found them to be very informative. He is presently beta testing some automotive software for a Pico scope. These scopes are PC based, have very fast sample rates and can be found at www.picoscopes.com. They may be worth a looksee. However, I don’t think that I have an aliasing problem in this instance. When I first scoped this crank signal, I thought that the signal was too fast for the speed of the scope and didn’t think anymore about it. It wasn’t until I found another waveform of the same signal captured with another Fluke 98 that made me have another look at this. The other capture was recorded at 10 ms/div (made mistake in earlier post, thought it was 20 ms/div) and all the signals appear to be there, however when I try to scope the same signal at 10 ms/div with my 98, a lot of the crank signals seem to be dropping out. Although the other capture was a dual trace capture, I thought that maybe my 98 slowed down too much with dual trace and tried capturing the signal on signal trace. Same thing on single trace! Hmmm, that’s what caught my attention and lead to my questions. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe it’s the difference between the 98-I converted to the 98-II and the true 98-II? Maybe its just one of those things :). Thanks for your time, I appreciate it. Harvey.
